Chronic Pain & Illness

Hypnotherapy can help alter our experience of pain and the physical symptoms we suffer as a result of chronic illness, by affecting how the mind responds to the messages it receives and gradually learning to 'switch off' the unhelpful signals.

This can really help restore that quality of life that can so easily be lost when we're unwell and in constant pain.

As a great example, hypnotherapy has been used alongside conventional treatment to help many cancer sufferers at Charing Cross Hospital manage the stress, anxiety, physical symptoms and pain they experience due to their illness. It is also very effective for many in conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and M.E., to name a few.

Acute Pain

Hypnotherapy can also be used to help control acute pain - such as managing dental pain or for childbirth - and in fact has been used in this way for decades. Thanks to neuroscience and modern research (e.g. trials at the Liege hospital in Belgium), we are now understanding this link between the mind and pain better than ever before.
